Where Should Tilly Go This Winter?

5 Snowy Places She Can’t Wait to Explore

Winter is here - the season of cold noses, shovelling snow, heavy coats (mostly black or dark blue), too much eggnog, and Canadians starting conversations with “I hate the cold!” while starting to research their escape to somewhere sunny. The Canadian snowbird flight path is a real thing, and it usually kicks in right after Christmas.

But some of us actually like winter - like me, and yes, Tilly. After all, she is a baby polar bear! So, before the snowbird traffic to the airports picks up in January, here are five places this curious, big-hearted little polar bear suggests to make your winter feel fun and a little adventurous. And lucky for us, December is full of holiday markets and fun winter activities!

1. The Distillery District Christmas Village, Toronto, ON

Tilly heard that this is North America’s largest Christmas village/market, and now she’s determined to go. Lights everywhere. Music. Warm drinks. Giant ornaments she could absolutely hide behind.

2. Quebec Winter Carnival, Québec City, QC

Bonhomme, ice sculptures, snow slides … this is basically Tilly’s dream playground.

She plans to challenge Bonhomme to a friendly snowball fight.

3. Lake Louise in Winter, Alberta

Tilly wants to skate on that bright blue ice - even though she can barely stand on skates without wobbling like a baby moose. She’s also interested in the salmon-flavoured snacks she hopes the cafés might carry … even though they definitely don’t.

4. Whitehorse, Yukon
Northern lights, cozy cabins, and long, quiet nights. No shopping here, but it’s perfect for a polar-bear-style retreat. Tilly imagines herself staring up at the sky, whispering “namaste.”

5. Ottawa’s Rideau Canal - Ontario

The world’s largest skating rink and Tilly on tiny skates? Yes, please.

She’ll probably need a push from a kind stranger, but she’ll get there - slowly, and hopefully without face-planting.

Her reward? A Beavertail pastry topped with a maple-blueberry swirl, something even a little polar bear can’t resist.

We’ve taken you to some amazing winter spots in Canada through the eyes of a fictional baby polar bear named Tilly - the same curious little bear who shows up across our products. These destinations are real, beautiful, and worth adding to your own winter wish list to make the season a little brighter and a lot more fun.

Tilly’s suitcase is packed.
Her mittens are ready.
She just needs to know where to wander next.
